Market Update | Q3 2026 Recapped
The third quarter of 2026 highlighted a tension between resilient economic activity and an increasingly restrictive financial environment. As described in our latest quarterly commentary, energy-price pressures reemerged, government bond yields climbed, and the performance of equities and fixed income diverged sharply across sectors and maturities.
Investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure remained an important support for economic growth, even as many other construction categories weakened. Strong corporate profitability helped sustain that spending, but the concentration of growth and comparatively narrow equity risk premium left markets sensitive to changes in earnings expectations and interest rates.
Our Q3 commentary reviews these developments across the economy, equities, fixed income, commodities and currencies, and considers both upside and downside scenarios heading into the fourth quarter.
